Pre-Session Shampoo:

The main ingredient here is Pyrithione Zinc, which will hydrate and nourish the scalp before each session. The scalp can get flakey between sessions as it is healing, so a specialized shampoo like this is necessary.

Exfoliator:

I recommend different exfoliators based on the treatment type. The exfoliating step is critical to remove flaking or any buildup that may occur before each session. The exfoliating wash is easy to apply to a shaved head, but not to a head covered with hair, which is why the scalp brush is a more effective exfoliator if you have longer hair.

Hydration:

The skin needs to be in a hydrated state to perform each session. The 100% aloe vera gel can be used before each session as well as 24 hours after each session, which will speed up the healing and reduce any inflammation and itching.

Post-Session Cleanser:

This is a safe, natural cleanser that isn’t full of harsh chemicals, dyes, sulfates and other ingredients that aren’t meant for healing/irritated skin. This will be used for several days after each session to ensure the area remains clean.

Shaving Tools:

Your SMP treatment will look the best the shorter the hair is. The goal is to have stubble only, not length to your hair. The foil shaver I recommend makes it easy to cut your hair down in just a few minutes each day. If your hair grows out a bit, you’re going to want to use a trimmer like the one I linked to cut it short first, then use the foils afterward. Foils aren’t meant for longer hair, so trimming it down first is necessary. There are other options as well, but if you don’t currently have something that is working for you, these are my suggestions.

Post-Treatment Anti-Shine:

SMP will not reduce glare from the sun or bright lights hair does—that’s where this product comes in. This will elevate your treatment to the next level. This product isn’t a requirement, but it is definitely recommended for my Shaved-Effect clients. You will also want to pick up the makeup remover cloths which will take off the product much easier than soap and water.
